Pulse Dye Laser IN Burbank, CA
The Pulse Dye Laser, or PDL, uses concentrated light beams to target blood vessels. Light is converted into heat, destroys the blood vessels, and leaves the surrounding skin untouched. In addition, the laser uses yellow light, which is safe and does not cause long-term skin damage.
Pulsed dye lasers treat red-colored malformation, port-wine stains, hemangiomas, or birthmarks created by red blood vessels, cherry angiomas, capillaries, and other vascular lesions. In addition, the FDA has cleared pulsed dye lasers to treat other skin conditions like keloid scars, warts, telangiectasia, or spider veins.
PDL lasers generate heat that destroys abnormal blood vessels, which are the sources of redness. A pulsed dye laser is attracted to the hemoglobin in the blood, and the heat from the laser causes coagulation. This coagulation starts shutting down the pathway for the blood that makes red marks. The flow of blood is then directed into deeper vessels. Laser light bypasses the superficial layer of skin and is absorbed by hemoglobin in the blood vessels. This heat allows surrounding tissues to be left intact.
In addition to clearing redness, a pulse dye laser improves skin tone and texture, minimizing fine lines and scarring. PDL treatment can also treat rosacea; most patients have reduced redness without post-treatment bruising.
Pulse dye lasers are quick and take only 30 minutes in an office procedure with little to no downtime. In addition, the PDL can treat vascular lesions to red-toned stretch marks and is FDA cleared for children and adults.
