MINI-FACE & NECK LIFTING

When there is significant jowling and lower face drooping along with neck changes, a face lift is the most appropriate surgical procedure. The traditional face lift addresses the mid face and the lower face. In order to lift all this, a surgical scar needs to go from the temples down to the ear lobe and around to the back of the ear. Many versions of mini face lifting have been devised and they all attempt to give a nice clean jaw and neckline as well as some cheek lifting without as long a scar. A certain amount of postoperative healing time needs to be expected after one of these procedures, and it all depends on each persons own healing tendencies and healthy life style.

Neck Lifting

Many people have a small or large amount of fat under their chin. Sometimes it is hereditary and sometimes is due to excessive weight gain. Whatever the reason, this fat can be easily removed under local anesthesia using Liposculpture. The healing is quick and painless. When there is excessive fat and excess skin is expected, then a modification of traditional Tumescent Liposculpture is performed. At the end of the liposculpture portion of the surgery, a small opening under the chin is made and the weak, thin platysma muscle there is tightened (Platysmaplasty). After this combination procedure a patient sees a very firm under-chin and jaw line in their profile.

If one has a lot of loose skin in the neck as well as fat to be removed, then a full neck lifting procedure needs to be done. Under light sedation or only local anesthesia (if desired) extra skin can be removed, hiding any scarring behind the ear. This procedure has a slightly longer healing time than just liposculpture.
