Frequently Asked Questions

Restylane™, Radiesse™, Sculptra™ and Other Fillers

Q: Which filler is the best for me?

A: We often hear this question. When people have a choice to make among similar products it can be confusing which to settle on. Have no fear! Your dermatologist know exactly which filler material is the best for your type of problem. Deep lines and furrow of the face would need Radiesse™ and or one of the thicker versions of Hyaluronic Acid products (Restylane™ or Juvederm™). Fine lines need a finer type of Hyaluronic Acid product. Certain ones are better used under the eyes and Sculptra may be needed for larger facial defects of fat loss.

Q:Are they safe?

A: The filler made of collagen (Zyderm™) was used for facial filling for over 25 years with minimal problems worldwide. The newer and longer lasting filler materials have all undergone extensive worldwide and US testing to ensure their safety. If you stick with FDA approved filler materials, you are likely never to see a serious problem.

Q: Can anyone use these fillers?

A: Certain medial problems might make you a poor candidate for this procedure. Ask your dermatologist about it.

Q: How long does the facial improvement last?

A: Each type and brand of filler last different amounts of time. Each person's body will absorb these fillers at different rates. Therefore, we can only give you an approximate number of months of improvement you are like to get based on many research studies and our own personal experience. At Kay Aesthetic Dermatology we have over 25 years experience in the use of these facial fillers. We can answer all your questions about them.
